Textile Designs By Lisa Lapointe

Literally exposing the inner fabric of her designs, Lapointe extracts detailed sections and tight close-ups from her original artworks - while dissecting these compositions she reveals repeat patterns, and the discovery of new abstract compositions emerge.

The limitless colour palette and playful geometric arrays and symbolism used in Lapointe's original works on paper are lending themselves naturally to a world of textile applications.

With samples such as linen, bed-sheets, pillow cases, bean bags, wallpaper and cushion covers already popping up around the studio, we are starting to see the possibilities of Lapointe's designs taking on new forms and function, transforming not only the designs themselves, but also the environments they inhabit.
